SSC CHSL Selection Process

The candidate selection for SSC CHSL is based upon the following three tiers

  • Tier-I: Computer Based Examination (CBT).
  • Tier-II: Description Paper.
  • Tier-III: Typing Test/Skill Test.

Computer Based Examination (Tier-I)

The commission conducts the first tier in online mode only just because to make the selection process easy and safe. As we all are familiar with the big failure of Commission in SSC MTS Examination of paper leaking. So to avoid the mishappening the department decided to take the first tier online and a large number of students are filtered at the first stage only.

SSC CHSL Computer Based Examination for Tier-I will be conducted in a period of several dates and the SSC CHSL Admit Card will be available on the website nearly one weak before the exam. Candidates who will qualify the Tier-I Exam are only applicable to sit in the Tier-II.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern

The Staff Selection Commission set Tier-I of total 200 marks. The paper contains 4 section and each section is composed of 25 questions which graded with total 50 marks. So applicant has to complete total 100 question in a period of only 1 hour (60 minutes). The exams will be conducted in both Hindi as well as in the English language. Each right question is awarded 2 marks and 0.5 marks will be deducted for a wrong one.

SSC CHSL Exam Date for Tier-I

As per the official notification, SSC CHSL Tier-I examination will be conducted from 4th to 26th March 2018. SSC CHSL Admit card will be available on the website from 25th March.

Exam Date: 4th March to 27th March 2018

Descriptive Paper (Tier-II)

Those candidates who have qualified Tier-I are applicable to appear in Tier-II. This is a written exam conducted for 100 marks with a limited time period of two hours.

In this section, the applicant needs to submit an essay containing about 200-250 words and a letter containing nearly 150-200 words. The minimum score required to pass Tier-II is 33% marks and with their comfort-ability candidates can write an essay and letter in  Hindi or English Language. SSC CHSL Exam Date for this exam will be available after the declaration of Tier-I Result.

Skill Test/ Typing Test (Tier-III)

In Tier-III criteria is different for different posts. Which is as follows-

Skill Test for DEO: The required Data Entry Speed of the candidate is 8000 key depression per hour.

Skill Test for LDC/JSA: This post requires typing test in both the Hindi and English language. For Hindi language candidate speed should be 30/min and for English language candidate speed should be 35/min.

Applicants who have qualified all the three Tiers will then called for Document Verification which is the last stage candidates have to qualify to get the required post.

Final Merit List: Based on the candidates’ performance in Tier-I and Tier-II final merit list is prepared and the Tier-III marks are excluded from the merit list.
